About I Am Democracy

I Am Democracy is a civic-transparency tool in active development. The goal is simple: let any citizen see every candidate on their ballot and exactly who funds them.

What it is

When it launches, I Am Democracy will let you type your zip code and see every federal, state, and local race in your district — each candidate paired with a clear breakdown of where their money comes from: small-dollar donors, large donors, PACs, or dark money. The site you’re on today is our marketing beta, and the funding cards you see are illustrative mockups, not live data.

Why we’re building it

Campaign-finance information is technically public but practically invisible. It sits in filings and databases that most people never open. We believe citizens deserve real-time visibility into who funds their candidates — without having to be a journalist or a researcher to find it. A candidate’s funding profile is one of the most honest signals we have about who they’ll answer to, and understanding it should take two minutes, not two hours.

Who’s building it

I Am Democracy is built by four co-founders: Jackie, Xochitl, American Citizen, and Ashfak.

Where we are

We’re in beta. The product is in active development and this marketing site is live. Features described across the site are planned, not yet operational — we say so plainly wherever something isn’t live yet.
